In Pinehall, beneath the rain-soaked canopy of the Forest of Tharlin, tiefling apothecary Elpyra Morrovale stands accused of murdering Lord Vellioro Drayl, her former lover. The nobleman was poisoned and stabbed with a ceremonial dagger bearing Elpyra’s mark, creating a seemingly airtight case against her. Father Liptis, a young priest of the Church of the Divine Balance, presides over the trial as prosecutor Flavio Lemeel skillfully argues that jealousy and greed drove her to commit the crime.

However, the investigation reveals that the truth behind the murder is anything but straightforward.

The characters are deputized to investigate the crime, forcing them to move between legal proceedings and hands-on detective work. They must inspect the victim at the Shrine of the Redeemer, search the manor for planted clues, and follow the trail of Lord Drayl’s final hunt to the Glade of Silverhoofs. Along the way, the party encounters suspicious witnesses, the volatile Narthel Windoll, strange spores, and testimony that does not withstand scrutiny.

This dark fantasy one-shot brings together detective work, courtroom drama, social encounters, and thrilling combat.
