Rain beats against the rooftops of a forest village where a former lover stands accused of murder. The facts condemn her—yet deception has taken careful root.

In the forest village of Pinehall, deep within the Forest of Tharlin, the respected tiefling apothecary Elpyra Morrovale faces a charge of murder. Lord Vellioro Drayl lies dead, poisoned and cut by a ceremonial dagger bearing Elpyra’s mark. Presiding over the spectacle is the young and solemn Father Liptis of the Church of the Divine Balance, while the charismatic prosecutor Flavio Lemeel weaves a narrative of jealousy and greed.

But the case is far from simple.

Deputized for the investigation, the characters must balance courtroom drama with fieldwork—examining the body at the Shrine of the Redeemer, searching the lord’s manor for planted evidence, retracing his final hunt through the Glade of Silverhoofs, and confronting suspects like the volatile Narthel Windoll. As sinister spores, falsified testimony, and suspicious crime scenes come to light, a dark architect of malevolent intent emerges.

From tense cross-examinations to tavern duels of fist and wit, and barn ambushes, this adventure blends legal intrigue, social roleplay, investigative exploration, and dangerous combat into a race against time. The final verdict rests not only on steel and spells—but on rhetoric and the courage to speak truth before a crowded court.
